Affordable Xbox Series X storage cards have been leaked by retail promos

Microsoft and Sony are working closely with Seagate on additional storage options for their flagship gaming machines. Unfortunately, the ones already available from Seagate aren't cheap. For example, the 512GB version of Seagate FireCuda 530 for the PS5 retails at $169.99 and can cost as high as $1,049.99 for the 4TB version. On the other hand, the 1TB expansion card for the Xbox Series X by Seagate has an MSRP of $219.99, which isn't cheap either.

With that said, if Seagate makes a 512GB version of the expansion card for the Xbox Series X for a slightly lower price, most gamers will be more than happy. Adding an extra 512GB is a lot, especially in a world where certain video games can take up hundreds of gigabytes of storage space.

According to Window Central, Microsoft might start promoting the 512GB expansion card for the Xbox Series X/S consoles as early as next week. Because the promotional materials are already available in retailers in the United States, it's only a matter of time before Microsoft and Seagate start selling them. Unfortunately, it appears that we'll have to wait until they are officially available to know how much they cost.

We speculate that Microsoft and Seagate are waiting for the holidays. In particular, the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042. Both of these shooters are notorious for taking up large amounts of space. It wouldn't come off as a surprise if Microsoft and Seagate end up partnering with either game's developers to help promote the drive's launch sometime during the holidays.
