Confirming earlier rumors, Microsoft has revealed that a Xbox Developer Direct showcase is coming on January 18. The event is eagerly anticipated as it promises to provide an in-depth look for several upcoming games for the Xbox platform and the Game Pass.
One of the main attractions of the Developer Direct is the first look at the Indiana Jones game by MachineGames. This studio, known for its work on the Wolfenstein franchise, will showcase more than 10 minutes of gameplay footage and share insights. Fans can expect to learn about the game’s setting, story, and the gameplay mechanics of playing as the iconic adventurer Indiana Jones. This segment will also include the premiere of the game’s first gameplay trailer.
Meanwhile, Obsidian Entertainment will provide a deep dive into Avowed, their upcoming fantasy action RPG. Set in the vibrant Living Lands, Avowed will reflect Obsidian’s award-winning expertise in creating immersive worlds and dynamic gameplay. The Developer Direct will reveal how players’ choices will shape their adventure in this fantastical setting.
The showcase will also feature Ara: History Untold, a historical grand strategy game from Oxide Games. The team at Oxide Games, comprising veterans of the strategy genre, will unveil new gameplay and share more about the inspiration, key features, and the development road ahead for their title.
Ninja Theory will take viewers behind the scenes at their studio in Cambridge to discuss Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. This segment will provide insight into the development process and the ambition involved in crafting Senua’s journey of survival.
Following the Developer Direct, ZeniMax Online Studios will host The Elder Scrolls Online 2024 Global Reveal. Set for 1 pm PT / 4 pm ET / 9 pm UK, this will preview the biggest update of 2024 for the game, including a new zone, storyline, and other major features.
It’s important to note that the Developer Direct will not include updates on games from the recently acquired Activision Blizzard, but Microsoft has indicated that more information on those will be shared later in the year.
This Developer Direct is part of a broader strategy by Microsoft to showcase their gaming lineup and future projects. It comes amid various rumors in the gaming industry, including the potential expansion of Xbox-exclusive games like Sea of Thieves to other platforms like PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
