The Greatest of All Time is joining the world of wrestling! That’s right, Muhammad Ali, the heavyweight boxing legend, will apparently throw down in WWE 2K24. Don’t believe us? Well, watch the recently dropped official gameplay trailer and see for yourself.
The one-minute trailer kicks off the action with Roman Reigns and LA Knight clashing in the all-new Ambulance Match, where victory means slamming those ambulance doors shut on your battered opponent.
The trailer then moves to the ‘2K Showcase… of the Immortals‘, a tribute to four decades of WrestleMania glory, spotlighting iconic wrestling superstars like Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, The Undertaker, and “Mr. WrestleMania” himself, Shawn Michaels, among many others.
We also get a sneak peek of the revamped Backstage Brawl arena, now packed with new weapons like a stop sign and soda machine, and featuring destructible environments, which means lots of chaos and fun.
There’s also footage of the Casket Match featuring The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels. This new mode will see players attempt to win a match by putting their opponents in an open casket and forcing the lid down.
As if that’s not fun enough, there’s also the unpredictable Special Guest Referee Match with Randy Orton, Solo Sikoa, and Kevin Owens, which reveals what happens when a ref gets a little too personal.
The trailer wraps up with a bang, teasing new additions to the WWE 2K24 roster, which will be comprised of over 200 Superstars and Legends. At the very end, we get to see The People’s Champion shadowboxing in an empty ring.
Though it’s not been confirmed if Ali will get to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee in the upcoming game, it’s fitting that 2K is adding him to WWE 2K24. Back in 1985, Ali appeared in the first-ever WrestleMania event as a special guest referee.
The memorable event featured Hulk Hogan and Mr. T going up against Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper, with the former pair emerging victorious.
Most fans will be hoping that 2K will at least include this match in the ‘2K Showcase… of the Immortals,’ with a slight twist of Ali knocking out one of the opponents in the capacity of a special guest referee. After all, the potential for mischief and mayhem in such a match is only limited by imagination.
Cody Rhodes will feature as the cover athlete for the WWE 2K24 Standard Edition. Meanwhile, Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair will share the cover for the Deluxe Edition.
All editions of WWE 2K24 will be available to play on March 8 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
