When will Nintendo release the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLCs?

Get ready for new Pokemon evolutions, including the new Applin evolution, Dipplin, and Duraludon’s evolution, Archaludon.

Earlier today, The Pokemon Company hosted a livestream for the August 2023 Pokemon Presents, which extended well beyond the duration of the previous Pokemon Presents showcases. This extended runtime, much to the delight of fans of the franchise, brought along a slew of positive updates, including the release dates for the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLCs.

In February, The Pokemon Company officially confirmed the two-part expansion for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. The first part, Teal Mask, has been locked in for release on September 13. The second part, Indigo Mask, while lacking a precise release date, is earmarked for launch in winter.

The announcement was also accompanied by an enticing teaser, introducing us to some of the new Pokemon additions. Teal Mask will see players step out beyond the confines of the Paldea region, embarking on a school excursion to the land of Kitakami, guided by the new teacher, Briar.

This expedition introduces a cast of new characters, including Carmin and Kieran, Pokemon trainers from the Blueberry Academy, and Perrin, a photographer, who will eventually grant players access to a new Roto Stick Photo Mode. On top of this, Kieran’s candy apple Pokemon, Dipplin, will also make its debut, and a new minigame, Ogre Oustin, will enable players to tweak a Pokemon’s base stats using the mochi earned during gameplay.

Part 2: The Indigo Disc will continue the story within the depths of Blueberry Academy, an underwater location where players will visit as exchange students. This unique location will become a hub for mastering battle techniques across four distinct biomes. Along this journey, players will encounter a new evolution for Duraladon named Archaludon and two new Paradox forms of Raikou and Cobalion, Raging Bolt and Iron Crown. Both DLCs will also see the return of over 230 familiar Pokemon that did not appear in the base Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

In November last year, Nintendo finally launched the highly anticipated Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to mixed reviews, with criticism being leveled at the games’ numerous performance-related glitches. This, however, did not hinder Nintendo’s sales, as the company managed to sell an incredible 10 million copies within the first three days of their launch, cementing them as Nintendo’s most successful debut ever.

Although Pokemon Scarlet and Violet currently hold the lowest ratings among mainline series games, the upcoming DLCs hold the potential to change the initial perception of these open-world games, similar to how The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra DLCs positively impacted Pokemon Sword and Shield.
