It looks like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is Epic Games' latest collaboration with Fortnite after Metal Gear.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are making a much-anticipated return to Fortnite, setting the stage for an exciting crossover event.

Slated for February 9, the event follows previous leaks and teases that suggested the iconic characters would be coming back to the popular battle royale game.

Epic Games confirmed the return of TMNT to Fortnite by releasing an unmistakable image of the brother’s favourite catchphrase, Cowabunga, which also appeared as a teaser in-game, further fueling anticipation.

This isn’t the first time that TMNT skins have come to Fortnite: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, and April O’Neil arrived last December. The upcoming Cowabunga event on February 9 is introducing even more TMNT-themed content into Fortnite.

While Epic Games has kept specific details under wraps, leaks have provided insight into the upcoming crossover. Among the most exciting rumors is the addition of a Shredder skin, a character pivotal to the TMNT series. The design of this skin has been well-received by fans, though its final appearance in Fortnite remains to be seen. Beyond Shredder, there are hints of an in-game location dedicated to TMNT, as well as unique weapons and augments themed around the franchise.

In preparation for the event, Fortnite has introduced a TMNT tab within the game’s menus, featuring a countdown to the event’s launch. This not only serves as a reminder for players but also builds anticipation for what’s to come. Leading up to the event, Fortnite has added new quests that players can complete for experience points, including tasks such as talking to April, hiding in sewer entrances, visiting the Underground HQ, and finding empty pizza boxes – all nods to the TMNT universe.

The Fortnite x TMNT crossover event is part of Fortnite’s ongoing strategy to engage players by incorporating popular cultural icons into its gameplay. Previous events include partnering with franchises such as Star Wars, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Dragon Ball. These events often feature a mini Battle Pass, offering free and premium tracks for players to unlock themed cosmetics. It’s anticipated that the Cowabunga event will follow a similar format, with Shredder coming as a premium unlockable skin for those who complete the event quests.

TMNT's upcoming Fortnite collaboration suggests that more TMNT-related projects are on the horizon.

Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 1 has already brought significant changes and additions like new skins, emotes, and rewards. The TMNT crossover event is an additional layer of excitement, drawing both long-time fans of the franchise and Fortnite players into the sewers for a shell-shocking adventure.

In other news, Fortnite is finally available to play on iOS devices in Europe.
