Last year, Konami told the world that the Silent Hill franchise is getting new additions. When the company announced this, it hinted that one of them, Silent Hill: Ascension, was close to completion when it said the game would arrive soon. You can learn more about the project here.
It’s almost been a year since the reveal but neither Konami nor the game’s developer Genvid Entertainment has given us any update about the title – until now.
A few days ago, the release date of the interactive video game leaked on X, courtesy of the popular video game leaker, Wario64, who spotted a listing for the title with a release date of October 31. Wario shared the news with the world via his X account where they also revealed that the game is currently available on pre-order.

Naturally, many of us took the news with a pinch of salt since it wasn’t from an official source. But the game’s developer has since confirmed it. Genvid’s CEO, Jacob Novak, said the title will be available from Halloween night on October 31 and provided a few more details about it, including its features.
Novak explained that the forthcoming Silent Hill: Ascension isn’t a video game but a streaming series. What makes it different from the conventional television series is that fans determine its story progression. Basically, the series’ plot will be open and fans’ decisions will impact what happens in each scene. Because of this, the series has many possible endings and Novak said that not even the creators have an inkling how it will all come together.
Silent Hill: Ascension will air one scene every day for six months. At the end of each week, the seven scenes that aired will be compiled into an episode that will then be developed into a horror television series at a later date.
Obviously, fans won’t always have the time to participate in the show. When this happens, they can catch up on the day’s event by visiting its website at ascension.com.
Silent Hill: Ascension is a very ambitious project. It’s a big gamble on Konami’s part especially since it doesn’t have any precedence. This is the big upside. If the project appeals to fans, the company will build loyalty for Silent Hill and, by extension, itself on a massive scale. If the project falls flat on its face, then Konami risks alienating itself from potential fans not to mention the financial implications.
Early reactions to the show are good, though, and we have a gut feeling that the concept will work. The one problem we have with the whole idea is the fact we will only be able to stream it from either the mobile app or the website. We think the company could have done better and offered the show on more platforms. Hopefully the top brass have a rethink and make it more accessible. It will certainly benefit everyone involved.
Silent Hill: Ascension will premiere worldwide on October 31. The show will begin at 9 PM Eastern Time and 6 PM Pacific Time.
