If you are a horror movie aficionado, then chances are that you know of Thirteen Ghosts. The supernatural horror film was originally released in 1960 before Dark Castle Entertainment, alongside Warner Bros. Pictures, and Columbia Pictures produced a remake in 2001 - now, over two decades later, we are hearing reports that the film will be adapted for the small screen.
According to the online publication Dread Central, Patrick Mediate and Aaron McLane, who supervised special effects on Fear the Walking Dead, are working with Dark Castle to develop a television series based on the IP.
When it is ready and the current industry standstill is resolved, they intend to pitch the show to Sony Pictures Television. Even though they didn't explicitly say so, we believe they have an arrangement with Sony where the studio will greenlight the project if they believe it is promising.
If Sony approves the project, it will be the first television adaptation of the property in 22 years. Mediate and McLane have plans for a 13-episode series with each episode focusing on one ghost and exploring its origin.
Given that both the original movie and the remake were feature films, there is little material for a 13-episode series. Because of this, we expect Mediate and McLane to expand the IP's canon and invent a believable backstory for each of the ghosts.
