The UFC welterweight champion, Leon Edwards, is looking to try his hands at wrestling soon.
Here's what Edwards said about working in the WWE, as per BBC's Newsbeat: Get me on the top rope, I'll give it a go for sure. I actually went to the event last year in Cardiff, Clash at the Castle. I took my son, it's quite similar and the fans are really similar. Now that the UFC and WWE have merged under one umbrella, Edwards shouldn't have any trouble asking the higher ups for permission to do a squash match or two.
The UFC and the WWE have worked closely together many times before and it's not unusual for wrestlers to try their hands at fighting inside the octagon. Brock Lesnar is one of the most prominent examples of wrestlers who've transitioned from the WWE to the UFC successfully. Another good example is Ronda Rousey, who has since found a home in the WWE as a constant draw.
While it's highly unlikely that Edwards will retire and become a professional wrestler, we don't think the UFC will mind if one of their top guys wants to do some promo work in the WWE.
