After weeks of leaks and speculations, Gearbox Software has finally confirmed that a Borderlands spin-off is in the works.
The new Borderlands spin-off game, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, will feature none other than everybody's favorite psychopath, Tiny Tina. The game is set to release sometime in early 2022 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, as well as Xbox Series S/X, and the PC.
Unlike Borderlands 3, which was a timed exclusive to the Epic Games Store, Tiny Tina's: Wonderlands will be available on both Steam and Epic Games Store at launch. What Is Tiny Tina's Wonderlands? Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will let you shoot rocket launchers at dragons.
For those that don't know, Tiny Tina is the foul-mouthed child who first appeared in 2012's Borderlands 2. Due to her popularity, Gearbox later released Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. This served as Borderland 2's fourth DLC content and expanded on the game's story. It revolved primarily on Tiny Tina as she played the dungeon master in a fantasy-themed twist on the classic Borderlands formula.
Tiny Tina later re-appeared in Borderlands 3 as a side character. This only served to further cement her as one of the Borderlands franchise's most iconic characters.
With that said, it only makes sense for Gearbox and 2K to release a spin-off title based on Tiny Tina.
In Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, players won't necessarily take control of the titular character. Instead, they will build and customize their own individual characters. There will also be multiple different classes in the game to choose from. Although the feature will take inspiration from the main Borderlands series, the setting of Tiny Tina's: Wonderlands will be fantasy-based and feature dragons, skeletons, as well as zombies.
