The Suicide Squad review roundup: Critics can't stop singing the R-rated film's praises

With a 98% rating, this means that nearly every single review of James Gunn's take on the live-action adaptation revolving around the exploits of Task Force X has been overwhelmingly positive. It also displaces 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse and its 97% rating from the #1 spot.

Technically, The Suicide Squad already has a sequel. The Peacemaker TV show is set to premiere in January 2022. Of course, we don't know if the TV series is going to be a prequel or a sequel though. Having said that, a sequel in one form or another seems more likely, now that the critical success of The Suicide Squad is guaranteed.

In comparison, 2016's Suicide Squad by David Ayer only got a 26% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is literally a little less than one-third of the current score of 2021's The Suicide Squad on Rotten Tomatoes.

Even if positive critical reviews are not a guarantee of commercial success, this does help improve The Suicide Squad's chances of beating out the MCU's Black Widow film in the box office.
