Neil Gaiman's DC comic book The Sandman was adapted into a live-action TV show on the popular streaming platform, Netflix, earlier this year. The budding series brought to life a handful of beloved characters such as Morpheus and the Corinthian. At the end of the first season, the Corinthian met a grim end at the hands of Morpheus, but apparently, that might not be the last we'll see of him.
Boyd Holbrook, who played the escaped nightmare, recently revealed in an interview with EW that his character will be making a return to the show in later seasons, saying: I think the reincarnation aspect is really exciting because you've already set up the Corinthian as this bad guy, but then if he's reincarnated as a good guy, you're always constantly wondering if it's for real or not. I think you'll have people on the hook. You can reel them back and forth and really play with that. I think that's going to be even better, actually. I've been getting some information trickling down about that. I think we'll go back maybe in the summer to start doing some stuff, but I don't know when they'll call me, if it'll be Season 2 or be Season 3. But I love that the Corinthian has made an impact and that people dig it. Efforts to adapt The Sandman to film began in 1991 but floundered in development hell for many years.
The series ranked first on Netflix's Top 10 global titles just three days after its release and remained the most-watched English-language TV show on Netflix for three straight weeks, earning over 393.14 million viewing hours. The show follows Morpheus, the personification of dreams, and one of the seven Endless, who is captured in an occult ritual in 1916. After being held captive for 106 years, he escapes and sets out to restore order to his realm, the Dreaming. The series was praised for its casting, production design, costumes, faithfulness to its source material, visual effects, and performances, and last month, it was renewed for a second season.
