Post-credits scenes as teasers for sequel have become the norm for superhero films when the MCU popularized the practice years ago. As Blue Beetle is set to release this month, fans are asking how many post-credit scenes will be included in the movie.
It looks like viewers will have to sit through the entire credit roll in the upcoming superhero flick starring Xolo Maridueña. Blue Beetle will have two credit scenes according to a fan that attended the official Blue Beetle Block Party in Austin, Texas. Director Angel Manuel Soto was reportedly in attendance during the advance screening of the movie.

Having two post-credits hints that “there’s more story to tell” with Blue Beetle, and that fans will probably get hints at other upcoming DC projects. Soto believes that James Gunn is setting up Jaime Reyes aka Blue Beetle for more projects in the future.
“I think that’s the beauty of it, right? I think it’s pretty vague,” Soto told ComicBook. “We know Batman exists. We know Flash exists. We know Superman exists, but we don’t say how, where or what.
He adds, “I think it opens up the doors to any interpretation or any direction James Gunn wants to go and because it is setting Jaime up, what happens now moving forward is game. I think that’s why they decided Jaime can be the first superhero of the new DCU because he is his own hero.”
James Gunn recently confirmed that Blue Beetle will be the first superhero in the new DC Universe while the first official film for the cinematic universe will be Superman: Legacy. This means that Blue Beetle will exist in the DCU but the movie happens before the official start of the shared universe.
Maridueña recently shared that he had an opportunity to discuss Blue Beetle’s future with Gunn. According to the actor, it will be up to the audience to determine Blue Beetle’s future in the DCU – meaning fans of the character should gun for multiple viewings.
“I have had the pleasure of getting to speak with Mr. James Gunn and the whole DC fam,” Maridueña shared. “And, you know, at the end of the day, I think, first, we have to cross this first hill, right? And introduce Jaime to the world. But I think it’s up to the audience to watch the movie. It’s up to everyone to show up for the movie and it’s so wonderful that we get to make movies like this.”
“And if it does well, we’ll get to open more doors for more Blue Beetles, and not even just for the people up here, but there’s… we’ve got a whole thing set up. So, so many Beetles from so many comics to choose from and really just a whole world where we’re super appreciative that DC’s took the first swing at the live-action Latino superhero movie. So we’re ready to do it again if the crowd wants it.”
We aren’t really sure about James Gunn’s future plans for Blue Beetle. However, if the audience turnout for the movie is great, then DC Studios will likely pursue more projects for the character. Blue Beetle is coming to theaters on August 18, 2023.
