In 2022, The CW experienced huge changes, the largest being Nexstar acquiring 75% of the television channel. Before the acquisition, most DC television shows were safe from being cancelled, regardless of their viewership rate. However, that is no longer the case with the new owners focused on improving the channel's viewing numbers and canceling shows that fail to meet expectations, like the Arrowverse's Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl.
However, The CW is continuing with the last DC TV show in the 2022 – 2023 season, Gotham Knights.
The channel dropped a new official trailer for the first season of Gotham Knights with an announcement that the show will start airing immediately after the premiere of the returning Superman & Lois on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. The two shows will be a part of the cable channel's Super Tuesdays.
The trailer portrays the events that occur in Gotham after the death of the city's foremost protector, Batman. It follows District Attorney Harvey Dent in his investigation of the famed vigilante's murder, where he goes through a slew of potential suspects, including the Caped Crusader's adoptive son, Turner Hayes.
Hayes is the prime suspect in Batman's murder. In fact, the Dark Knight's murderers framed Hayes, which isn't too far-fetched since he has the motive, standing to inherit the massive fortune of the Justice League member. Dent also suspects the Joker's daughter, Duela, and the children of other Batman enemies.
