Tactical shooters are making a comeback this year with new titles like Six Days in Fallujah and the massively successful Battle Bit. Tencent is getting in on the action by announcing that it is reviving a classic first-person shooter series.

Delta Force is coming back with a new entry being developed by Tencent's Timi Studio Group. A full reveal for the game is expected at Gamescom Opening Night Live later today.

The studio gave IGN an early "tease" which includes a first look at the game and an interview with producer Shadow Guo. According to the studio, the single-player campaign will be "based on the movie Black Hawk Down."

"Players will be able to experience authentic and thrilling battles from the celebrated movie," Guo said. "Our team has extensively studied the movie and delved into the historical context respectfully. This dedicated research enabled us to recreate a truly authentic and immersive gaming experience that captures the essence of that monumental event."

Guo also shared that the upcoming Delta Force game aims to capture the essence of the original title from 1998 and showcase the evolution of the genre. The upcoming installment will feature real-life characters and capture movement from military professionals.
