Switch port of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection confirmed at Nintendo Direct

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is expected to be the first of many remasters of classic Metal Gear Solid titles.

The classic Metal Gear games are criminally underrated and deserve to be replayed by modern audiences.

Konami came up big at the May PlayStation Showcase with the announcements of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

While the latter is definitely the bigger game of the two, the former is currently the focus of many as it’s set to come out sooner. In its initial announcement, the highly anticipated collection was confirmed for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X as well as the PC via Steam.

Now, thanks to the latest Nintendo Direct showcase, we’ve found out that it will be on the Nintendo Switch as well.

The original Metal Gear Solid was a seminal game that holds a ton of replay value even today.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of this definitive collection, which includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, as well as Snake’s Revenge. The good news is that the wait is almost over. The collection is slated for release on October 24, with the entire thing priced at $59.99. However, if you would like to buy each game individually Konami will be selling Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, for $19.99 each.

Adding to the excitement are the pre-order bonuses for the collection that include a digital soundtrack. This soundtrack, available for download at launch, features new, orchestral renditions of beloved Metal Gear Solid themes such as ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’, ‘Can’t Say Goodbye to Yesterday’, and ‘Snake Eater.

To top it all off, the collection will include a screenplay book containing the in-game text of each title, as well as a master book offering an in-depth look at the story and characters. This comprehensive package truly to offer everything a Metal Gear Solid fan could wish for, with something to appeal to both long-term fans and those new to the franchise.

Whether a die-hard fan of the series or a curious newcomer, all gamers can look forward to immersing themselves in the world of Metal Gear Solid when the collection releases this October.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater better blow the original out of the water because its remastered graphics aren’t looking half-bad based on the trailers.

Hopefully, Konami will follow the first collection with a second one sooner rather than later, taking a page out of Capcom’s book with the remastered bundles of its iconic games, specifically, Megaman.

The games currently atop the wishlist of every Metal Gear Solid fan that they dream would be included in a future bundle are Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which, by the way, was fully playable on the Xbox 360 at some point during its development.
