The upcoming Nintendo Switch game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, has leaked online ahead of its release on October 20.
An unofficial copy of the game is making its rounds online. So far, videos haven't appeared on streaming platforms like YouTube and Twitch but it's only a matter of time.
As always, we can expect Nintendo to send their lawyers on every video that pops up online to take them offline. But, it wouldn't surprise us if you'll find a couple of videos the next time you open your favourite social media platform.
This is the nth time that a piracy leak has affected a Nintendo game this year alone. In the lead up to the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in May, certain individuals had spread the game's official art book on Discord. It didn't take long for Nintendo's lawyers to file a DMCA to find the perpetrator. Months later, the entire game was leaked and pirated as a ROM file.
Nintendo has a no non-sense approach against piracy and hacking. It isn't afraid to pursue legal action. In doing so, it has, more often than not, walked away with millions in the process. A more recent legal case saw the company send a certain Gary Bowser (totally not related to Mario's antagonist) to jail.
