It looks like Capcom is taking everything it learned from Street Fighter V and applying it to Street Fighter 6. Everything we've heard about the upcoming Street Fighter game suggests that it will improve upon its predecessor. But, if there's one thing that everyone, including casuals, is looking forward to, it's the World Tour mode.

The new adventure mode for Street Fighter 6 will let players create their own custom characters and explore Metro City as well as iconic locations in the Street Fighter universe.

In an interview with IGN Japan, Street Fighter VI's director, Takayuki Nakayama, revealed that the studio specifically created the World Tour mode for inexperienced fighting game players. Nakayama added that the World Tour mode will feel similar to Shenmue in terms of its fighting gameplay and open-world exploration. Nakayama explains that the open-world Sega title had a "big impact" on him. He hopes that the World Tour mode will "defy genre labels." Finally, Nakayama joked about adding collectible items such as capsule toys in Street Fighter VI as he hopes that the interviewer, who is a self-proclaimed fan of Shenmue, gives the game a chance when it comes out.
