Starfield debuts at the top spot on the UK Boxed Charts

While some games fell, some older games rose in popularity over the past week. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year rose from number 37 to number 15. FromSoftware's Dark Souls trilogy re-entered the charts at number 31 while CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 returned at 32nd place. The return of Cyberpunk 2077 isn't much of a surprise as its only paid DLC, Phantom Liberty, comes out in two weeks.

Starfield continues the trend of Bethesda RPGs selling pretty well. The Starfield Premium Upgrade was the best seller on the Xbox digital store during the early access period. The early access had over 2 million players playing the game five days before release.

Starfield also broke six million players just two days after the game was released. The number is staggering considering that the game is only available on PC and Xbox Series X/S. Starfield's sales numbers in the UK also matched Diablo 4's performance which came out on older consoles and PS5.

Starfield's player counts are staggering and showcases the reach and impact of being a Day 1 release on the Xbox Game Pass. However, it will be interesting to see if the player count and even the viewerships on game streaming platforms continue to hit record numbers in the coming weeks. We expect Starfield to reach even more players once the performance issues on Nvidia and Intel GPUs have been resolved.
