The Star Wars Celebration 2023 was a huge hit among fans, especially after Disney announced three movies coming in the near future. One of the films announced during the event was Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi.

Dawn of the Jedi was revealed alongside Star Wars: New Jedi Order and an incoming Mandalorian movie. New Jedi Order sees the return of Daisy Ridley as she embarks on a quest to restore the Jedi to their former glory. The Mandalorian movie will cap off the Disney+ series which has been extremely popular among fans.

Lucasfilm revealed that Dawn of the Jedi takes place 25,000 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. The upcoming movie explores the era before the Old Republic and The Acolyte TV series. The time before the Old Republic is a mystery at this point as there is no canon about this age of the galaxy.

James Mangold is set to direct Dawn of the Jedi. Mangold is best known for directing the Marvel movie Logan starring Hugh Jackman. Mangold also directed the upcoming Lucasfilm movie Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which will be the final film in the franchise starring Harrison Ford.
