The South Korean hit show is gearing up for its second season, and while some of our beloved cast members won’t be returning (for obvious reasons), we can look forward to an exciting new ensemble to rally behind in the deadly games now that the final cast members have been revealed.
During Netflix’s Tudum event, exciting news emerged as Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, and Wi Ha-joon were confirmed to reprise their roles as Seong Gi-hun, Hwang In-ho (Front Man), and Hwang Jun-ho in the second season. Gong Yoo will also make a comeback as the charismatic recruiter who lures participants into the underground games.
Joining this stellar cast is the talented Yim Si-wan, who’s best known as a member of the South Korean boy band ZE:A, along with Kang Ha-neul, renowned for his roles in hit K-dramas like The Heirs and Misaeng: Incomplete Life.
Park Sung-hoon, recognized for his performances in Justice and Joseon Exorcist, will also take on a crucial role, alongside the multi-talented Yang Dong-geun, known for his impressive career as an actor, rapper, record producer, and breakdancer.
Moreover, the cast for the upcoming season has expanded further, with eight new members announced. Among them are Park Gyu-young, who has left a lasting impression in the Netflix dystopian series Sweet Home; Jo Yu-ri, formerly part of the beloved South Korean-Japanese girl group Iz*One; Kang Ae-shim, celebrated for her memorable roles in K-dramas like Be Melodramatic and Move to Heaven; and Lee David, whose exceptional supporting roles in Poetry, The Front Line, and Itaewon Class have earned him recognition.
Lee Jin-wook, the charming lead from Glass Castle, will also join the cast alongside renowned South Korean rapper Choi Seung-hyun, better known as T.O.P, Roh Jae-won, who’s gained recognition for his roles in Missing Yoon and Ditto, and Won Ji-an, famous for her role in the K-drama If You Wish Upon Me.
Apart from the familiar faces making a comeback, the new cast members’ roles remain a mystery, much like the plot and release date of Season 2. With the recent table read and production slated to start later this year, it’s safe to say that we’ll have to wait until next year, at the earliest, to dive into the next chapter of the award-winning series.
