Square Enix announces a sequel to Octopath Traveler at Nintendo Direct

The prequel spin-off Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent was released in Japan in October 2020 and worldwide on July 27, 2022. Everything we know about Octopath Traveler 2 The sequel will be set in Solistia and feature eight new characters.

From the trailer, we know that there will be eight new travelers in the game. Each character has his / her own backstory and reason for joining the quest.

The Octopath Traveler 2 Characters: Osvald - The Scholar Castti - The Apothecary Throné - The Thief Ochette- The Hunter Partitio - The Merchant Agnea - The Dancer Temenos - The Cleric Hikari - The Warrior The starting letters for each of the characters' names spell out the title of the game, similar to the original.

Octopath Traveler 2 will take place in the land of Solistia which looks to be a modern city compared to the medieval setting of the previous game. It has a retro HD-2D visual style reminiscent of older JRPG titles.

The combat will feature the turn-based mechanics of the original game with the relatively small characters fighting giant enemies. Players can find the weakness of foes and exploit them to break their defense.

New to Octopath Traveler 2 is the "Path Action" which each hero can use outside of combat. The action also varies between the time of day and affect the outcome of the game. When is Octopath Traveler 2 coming out? Octopath Traveler 2 is now available for pre-order.

Octopath Traveler 2 is already available for pre-order on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 for $59.99. So far, there are no pre-order bonuses for the game.

Fans can opt to purchase the Collector's Edition of Octopath Traveler 2 exclusively from the Square Enix store. The Collector's Edition comes with the Travelers Bust Set, an Art Album, and OST with Extended Battle Tracks. The Octopath Traveler 2 Collector's Edition retails for $179.99.

The game was originally announced as a Nintendo exclusive but it was updated to include PC (via Steam), PS4, and PS5. Octopath Traveler 2 will be released on February 24, 2023.
