After the cancelation of E3 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, many companies took it upon themselves to host their own digital showcases, and one of the developers and publishers to do so was Square Enix.
The Japanese video game development and publishing company used their recent Square Enix Presents showcase to give fans their first glimpse at Life is Strange: True Colors, among many other upcoming games published and/or developed by Square Enix.
Given the success of the first-ever Square Enix Presents showcase, most thought that Square Enix would skip E3 2021 and host their own digital showcase instead. But, that doesn't seem to be the case. Square Enix Joins E3 2021 NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 is an upcoming title published by Square Enix.
When E3 2021 was first confirmed as an all-digital event, there were a couple of no-shows. Sony was perhaps the most notable of them all. However, this shouldn't come off as a surprise to anyone who's followed E3 closely in recent years. After all, E3 2021 wouldn't mark the first time that Sony has decided to skip the event. Another prominent video game industry giant that was not initially listed was Square Enix.
Thanks to a recent interview with Japanese outlet Nikkei and a translation provided by Aitakimochi on Twitter, Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda himself confirmed that Square Enix will be attending E3 2021 in June.
During the said interview, Matsuda talked about Square Enix's line-up of games for E3 2021. He mentioned Outriders, a game published by Square Enix, as well as Nier Replicant, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. However, Matsuda also claimed that Square Enix will announce more games at E3 2021.
