Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse joins the ranks of longest animated films with its 2+ hour runtime

Attendees at last month's CinemaCon were treated to a 14-minute sneak peek of Across the Spider-Verse. The footage showcased a grounded Miles Morales, making a daring escape

with the aid of Gwen Stacy

, who emerges from a portal from another dimension. In the clip, Miles and Gwen can be seen discussing how to stop the dimensions from collapsing, as well as Gwen's father and the potential risks of a romantic relationship between them.

Set one year after the events of 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the upcoming sequel sees Miles crossing paths with a new team of Spider-People called the Spider-Society, who are on a mission to prevent the universes from colliding.

However, Miles finds himself at odds with the team's leader, Miguel O'Hara, also known as Spider-Man 2099. What's more, there's a looming threat from the notorious supervillain The Spot, who has previously appeared in Disney XD's Marvel's Spider-Man.

Despite the fact that Miles Morales is a character from Marvel Comics, Across the Spider-Verse is not linked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nonetheless, the latest trailer

features a scene alluding to the events that took place in the MCU's 2021 film, Spider-Man: No Way Home
