The Spawn reboot is all go after Blumhouse hired three renowned screenwriters Scott Silver, Malcolm Spellman, and Matt Mixon.
Scott Silver wrote the 2019 blockbuster Joker, which earned him an Oscar nomination. The movie went on to gross over $1 billion at the global box office and earned the star, Joaquin Phoenix, the Oscar award for best actor. Silver is currently penning the sequel to that movie titled Joker: Folie à Deux which has a 2024 release date. He's also worked on screenplays for The Fighter (which also earned him an Oscar nomination), 8 Mile, and The Finest Hours.
Malcolm Spellman created and served as head writer on Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He is also penning the script for the fourth installment in the Captain America series, Captain America: New World Order, which will begin filming next year. What's more is that Spellman has production experience having served as a producer on Empire, Truth Be Told, and Bel-Air.
Matt Mixon is the greenhorn of the trio with relatively little experience. He is responsible for the acclaimed 2017 rock documentary Yesterday was Everything.
