Sony confirms PS Plus Extra and Premium games for July 2023

While this month's lineup may not be as robust as the more offerings, the range and diversity of the incoming games are hard to ignore.

This month's PS Plus Extra and Premium inclusions are a bit light in terms of big names but this usually happens when Sony is preparing for something big.

Sony’s ambitious plan to bring in even more existing PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers into its new Extra and Premium service tiers, which have steadily been growing in popularity, gets a powerful boost this month.

Whether you’re a casual gamer or a hardcore player, you’ll find something in the new game lineup to tickle your tastebuds come July 18.

From engaging action shooters to delightful RPGs, this catalogue covers all the bases, making it an exciting month for all of the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.

Undertale is widely considered one of the best indie titles to ever be released.

For starters, one of the standout titles is 2021’s GOTY winner, It Takes Two. This award-winning co-op platform game stars a couple, Cody and May, two parents transformed into toys on the brink of divorce, who need to make up to have a chance at fighting their way back to reality. The game catalog version of this fan-favorite game comes with a Friend’s Pass, allowing a friend who doesn’t own the game to join the fun.

Sniper Elite 5, which saw its release a year ago, is another top draw. Set during the liberation of France following D-Day, the game lets players relive the World War II era as the lone-wolf hero, Karl Fairburne, and take the fight to the Nazis. Many deem it as the best formulation of the WW2-era stealth shooter yet.

Sony’s lineup is nothing if not diverse. If driving across frozen tundras is more your speed, Snowrunner promises just that, as it challenges players to navigate treacherous terrains in grueling trucking missions. The satisfaction comes not from hot showers or AM radio gospel music at journey’s end, but the sweet triumph of overcoming challenging landscapes to deliver the cargo safely.

A live-action adaptation of It Takes Two is currently in the works.

RPG fans will delight in the addition of Undertale, an indie top-down RPG that has topped the sales charts and won awards since its 2015 release. With gameplay reminiscent of classic Nintendo Entertainment System games, Undertale provides a unique blend of nostalgia with modern gaming expectations.

Other new games include World War Z, The Ascent, Dysmantle, Circus Electrique, Dynasty Warriors 9, Samurai Warriors 5, Fast & Furious: Spy Racers Rise of SH1FT3R, Monster Jam Steel Titans, and My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure. And let’s not forget the array of PlayStation Classics such as Gravity Rush Portable, Twisted Metal, and Twisted Metal 2, ready for download.

The inclusion of the first two Twisted Metal games is particularly significant. It’s timed with the release of the Twisted Metal TV series on Peacock featuring Anthony Mackie on July 27. It’s a smart cross-promotion, further strengthening the PlayStation Plus Premium offering.

However, it’s not just the hardcore gamers who will benefit. Even PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers can look forward to a trio of exciting titles, all of which were revealed earlier this month.

We’re curious to see what the next month brings to PS Plus subscribers after a relatively light offering for this month.

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium offer an enticing package for gamers. At just $14.99 and $17.99 a month, respectively, subscribers gain access to hundreds of games across a range of genres and platforms. From this point of view, the value is immense, a strategic move by Sony to entice current PlayStation Plus subscribers to upgrade.

This July, Sony has managed to cater to a broad spectrum of gaming tastes. It is a month that gamers, irrespective of their preferences, can look forward to with enthusiasm.
