Skybound Entertainment has revealed that it’s working on a video game adaptation of the hit Amazon Prime Video animated series, Invincible.
The multiplatform entertainment company announced the game a few days ago as part of the franchise’s 20th anniversary celebrations, which will take place next year. However, the company declined to provide more details on the planned games.
Apart from the games, Skybound intends to release an Invincible #1 facsimile edition reprint, Invincible Undeluxe #1 one-shot, Invincible Compendium Vol.1 HC, Invincible Vol.1 (New Edition), and the Invincible Universe Compendium, among other things.
Robert Kirkman, who penned the series, had the following to say in a press release:
Wow, twenty years! I can’t believe it. Invincible is something that Cory, Ryan and I have devoted a large portion of our lives to. Now that it’s being discovered by an infinitely larger audience it’s really great to see it live on in so many different forms. It’s so gratifying to know that people will be falling in love with Invincible for years to come.
Other people who worked on the Invincible comics are Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, both of whom provided the illustrations. Kirkman wrote and published the 144 issues over a 15-year period that began in January 2003. The series was popular and much loved by many comics fans but it did not achieve much access in other parts of the entertainment complex.
While Invincible started off as a comic book series, the casual fan might know about it thanks to Amazon Prime. The animated adaptation was a critically acclaimed piece of work with a strong following. Amazon later renewed Invincible for a second and third season as fans started asking for more adaptations outside of animation.
Apart from Invincible, Kirkman is one of the brains behind The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead as well as Outcast, Oblivion Song, Marvel Zombies, and Ultimate X-Men for both Image Comics and Marvel Comics. Kirman also founded Skybound Entertainment.
In other news, Amazon Prime’s new big project, Rings of Power, teases the return of Sauron in its season finale trailer. Also, in what will be a piece of great news to DCEU fans, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is impressing critics who got a chance to see it early ahead of its premiere on October 21.
