Sam Raimi's initial Spider-Man trilogy from the 2000s was a seminal project that effectively solidified the status of comic book movies as blockbuster hits. Unfortunately, following the critical failure of 2007's Spider-Man 3, Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire, as well as the rest of the cast and crew, would never get a chance to do a fourth despite there being a video game tie-up already in development.
