Saber delays Evil Dead game release date to February 2022 to get more time to "polish" it

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until February 2022 to see if Evil Dead: The Game is just as good as the classic supernatural horror film by Sam Raimi or not.

According to the game's official Twitter account, Saber needed more time to "polish" Evil Dead: The Game so that fans can get the "ultimate Evil Dead experience.

In addition to buying themselves more time to work on Evil Dead: The Game, the studio also intends to add a single-player campaign to the multiplayer co-op supernatural title. This way, players can still enjoy the title even without their "co-op compadres."

As you can see from the trailer, Saber did a great job at recreating Campbell's Ash in the game. We can see that Ash, along with Kelly and others, will have to work together in Evil Dead: The Game to try and fight a powerful demon and its army of Deadites.

Although most younger fans probably wouldn't understand the references, the trailer did a fine job at dropping hints of nostalgia with familiar faces and locales. Of course, an Evil Dead: The Game wouldn't be paying its movie origin homage if it didn't come with a lot of gore, and it's got plenty of that too.

With that said, it's interesting that Saber has decided to add on a single-player experience this late into the game's development. What usually happens is that it's the multiplayer aspect added a bit later.

We can only hope that the single-player campaign isn't some haphazardly tacked-on aspect of the game and that it's a genuinely enjoyable experience that's true to the movie series. Otherwise, it will have been all for nothing and could negatively impact how much more willing players will be to try out the meat of the title, which is the multiplayer co-op experience.
