Stranger Things, Star Wars, Rick and Morty, The Walking Dead, and even Jujutsu Kaisen have one thing in common – they’ve all crossed over to Fortnite. Given this, should we be surprised that there’s talk of Jack Sparrow being the next character to head to Fortnite? Absolutely not!
In the latest episode of The XboxEra Podcast, co-host Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker teased that Pirates of the Caribbean’s leading man, Jack Sparrow, would be coming to Fortnite. However, it’s worth noting that the Xbox insider cautiously refrained from making definitive statements, emphasizing that the timeframe for this crossover was still up in the air.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Sparrow coming to Fortnite. Back in 2022, the rumor mill churned out a similar story indicating that the rum-loving pirate might be headed to Fortnite. The news came a short while after actor Johnny Depp was found innocent of domestic abuse allegations, so at the time, it made sense why Epic Games would want to bring his Disney character to Fortnite.
Right now, it makes little sense why Epic Games would make such a move. Of the many reasons Epic would pursue a Fortnite crossover or collaboration, profits and expanding its Fortnite metaverse are definitely up there. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been dormant for the last six years, and fan enthusiasm is predictably at an all-time low. Even if Epic Games succeeds in attracting a handful of die-hard Pirates of the Caribbean fans to Fortnite, now is not the best time to do this.
Then again, if not now, when?
Fingers crossed, when the announcement does happen, a new Pirates of the Caribbean film is announced.
Speaking of Fortnite, the battle royale game has finally made a comeback on iOS in Europe following a four-year hiatus, much to the delight of iPhone users. However, there’s no news yet on when it will be available in other regions.
