Roman Reigns calls out The Rock ahead of SummerSlam

After Grayson Waller, Roman Reigns is now taking a dig at his cousin, The Rock, ahead of his Tribal Combat match at SummerSlam.

Many superstars have tried to call out The Rock before and most of them have failed but the prospect of seeing Roman Reigns go up against The Great One is tantalizing enough to make fans wish this would happen on August 5.

As the heart-pounding summer of WWE approaches its zenith with SummerSlam, all eyes rest upon the undisputed Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns. The name has resonated through the world of wrestling with a ruthless assertiveness, creating ripples of awe and adulation. The champion, sitting comfortably on a throne built from over 1,000 days of uninterrupted dominion, has transformed into an immovable force, having ascended to the epitome of WWE hierarchy.

In his latest interview with ESPN’s First Take, the Tribal Chief expressed his undoubted assurance, leaving an intriguing trail to follow for those who tuned in. His oozing confidence was evident in his statement after being asked about who could stop his reigns, saying, “I don’t see it. That’s what this last year has been. People coming from all over, Brock Lesnar, John Cena, they come from Hollywood, they come from other sports, Logan Paul. It doesn’t matter anymore. I’m head and shoulders above everyone. It’s not even funny anymore.”

He doesn’t just stand firm; he stands head and shoulders above his contemporaries. Reigns’ dominance isn’t limited to his physical prowess but has seeped into his psychological warfare, successfully unnerving both rivals and fans alike. The latter found themselves dissecting the statement, a schism becoming apparent on Twitter. A camp supports Reigns, reiterating his unmatched aura, while others find his audacity overbearing, questioning if he’s buying into his own hype.

Interestingly, the discourse around who could potentially overthrow Reigns adds another fascinating layer to this narrative. The consensus around the likeliest contender teeters between Reign’s cousin, The Rock, and Cody Rhodes. Reigns versus The Rock, a showdown deeply rooted in real-life kinship, would undoubtedly make for an earth-shattering spectacle, albeit only plausible for a WrestleMania event. However, with The Rock’s last in-ring appearance leaving him with a significant injury and his continued Hollywood commitments, the possibility seems more a fan’s dream than a reality.

On the other hand, Cody Rhodes emerges as a clear candidate. His previous attempt at WrestleMania 39 may have ended in a grand disappointment, but the narrative around him dethroning Reigns at WrestleMania 40 remains the best route for the WWE at the moment.

Despite all the criticism, Reigns remains unshaken, his confidence feeding into his image as an indomitable force.

Many fans will die on the hill that Cody Rhodes was supposed to win at WrestleMania 39.

The upcoming SummerSlam event poses a fresh challenge in the form of Jey Uso, but even then, Reigns’ certainty barely wavers. His continuous dismissal of potential contenders serves not just as a testament to his dominance but a dig at those from Hollywood – his subtle jab at John Cena and perhaps even The Rock isn’t lost on observers.

The Tribal Combat match between Reigns and Jey Uso at SummerSlam is poised to be a monumental affair. The Ford Field in Detroit awaits the showdown that could further fortify Reigns’ reign or throw in an unexpected twist. The possibility of The Rock factoring into this match, even just as a passing-of-the-torch moment, is an intriguing prospect that could intensify the narrative.

In his over 1,000-day reign, Roman Reigns has fought and triumphed over some of the biggest names in WWE. Today, it isn’t about questioning his capabilities but pondering who has the strength and cunning to unseat him.

Roman Reigns’ championship reign isn’t ending at least until WrestleMania 40.

Interestingly, Reigns’ latest interview comes just within weeks of the WWE’s recent NXT call-up, Grayson Waller, also calling out The Rock, fueling speculations that the WWE is planning something for The Great One.

At his age and given his growing list of big-budget Hollywood projects despite being left out of the DC Universe, The Rock might be risking too much to do anything but make an appearance and talk on the mic for a couple of seconds. But, if The Rock does appear at SummerSlam, fans will want to see what comes of it and if a showdown with Reigns is indeed next on the docket.

In another universe, we might have already seen The Tribal Chief vs The Great One.

SummerSlam is basically the summer season’s equivalent of WrestleMania. Thus, it’s no wonder many superstars are said to be returning at the Hottest Party of the Summer. Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt are among the other names that have been speculated to make their return on August 5.
