Whether you like it or not, Rockstar Games is set to re-release Grand Theft Auto V again on March 15. This will be the game’s nth remaster, with improvements and tweaks specifically for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. However, in the days leading up to GTA 5’s re-launch for current-gen consoles, word has it that Rockstar has something big planned for GTA 6 later this year.
While fans aren’t expecting GTA 6 until at least 2025, it appears that Rockstar is looking to speed things up a bit, just a month after confirming GTA 6’s existence.
According to Chris Klippel, who is one of the more accurate sources of GTA news, Rockstar could reveal more of Grand Theft Auto 6 before the year ends. Furthermore, Klippel added that the studio is making good progress with the upcoming GTA installment, but the leaker still doesn’t think that Rockstar will release the game until at least late 2024. Although it’s still a long wait between then and now, we’re all for hearing positive Grand Theft Auto 6 news.
Rockstar’s once-sterling reputation has soured in recent years following multiple employee reports of toxic workplace conditions, among other matters. Also, the studio didn’t exactly handle the release of last year’s GTA Trilogy well. As soon as the game hit the market, fans couldn’t wait to file for refunds due to the buggy release.
If it’s any consolation, the most recent patch for GTA Trilogy appears to have taken care of most problems. Not to mention, fans are still riding high following the earlier announcement of the sixth GTA title.
Only time will tell if the most recent GTA VI reports are true. If we assume that the game is slated for a 2024 launch, the studio might really be sitting on other remakes and remasters to tide fans over until it officially comes out. Previously, we reported on a potential GTA IV remaster coming out in 2023 with a remake of the original Red Dead Redemption releasing in the same year.
A mostly empty schedule for the next year for Rockstar makes it more likely that the studio will make an announcement about something. Who knows? We might finally get more news about that Bully sequel everyone kept on talking about back in December.
