It isn't official yet but Rockstar Games has confirmed the name of the next Grand Theft Auto game.
After refusing to name its upcoming game, which is getting its first trailer soon, in previous announcements, Rockstar has revealed its name and it's what everyone expected.
A new page on the official Rockstar Games website refers to the game as GTA VI, which, unless it's just a code name (it's possible but highly unlikely), means the game's official name will be Grand Theft Auto VI.
The past two GTA games have used the Roman numeral formatting. However, it still doesn't guarantee that GTA 6 will be GTA VI. After all, Rockstar went through a spell in the 2000s when it named every new GTA game after Grand Theft Auto III anything but GTA VI. It wasn't until seven years after GTA III came out in 2001 that Rockstar finally released GTA IV in 2008. In the interim, Rockstar released mainline titles like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, both of which are part of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition that's currently available for free to GTA+ subscribers and is coming to Netflix on December 14.
