Xbox Remote Play on the PC is back from the dead

In addition to streaming to the PC, gamers have been able to take advantage of Xbox Cloud Gaming on the PC and mobile platformers for a while now.

Just try not to get confused between Cloud Gaming Beta and Remote Play on PC. Both are similar in that they let you stream games. However, unlike Cloud Gaming Beta, where you can stream games directly from the Cloud to your computer, Remote Play on PC relies on you having the corresponding console. This means that you'll need an Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X. Otherwise, it won't work.

The revival of Remote Play on PC is a welcome move that positions the Xbox brand favorably over its competition. Accessibility has been the name of the game for the Xbox brand and Microsoft has made great strides to let gamers play what they want, when they want, and how they want.

With that said, it will be interesting to see how Sony and Nintendo respond to Microsoft's latest announcement.

Sony has already made its Crunchyroll acquisition official. Even if it's not directly related to gaming, adding Funimation and Crunchyroll to the PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now would drive up the value of either subscription service tremendously. Will they do it though?
