Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC leak reveal two new Pokémon

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is expected to be the last mainline entry on the Nintendo Switch.

The two-part Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC will be released within the next six months.

Pokémon fans are busy speculating about the forthcoming DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Scheduled for release on September 13, the first part of the two-part expansion, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero: The Teal Mask, is a topic of discussion.

While official word from The Pokémon Company remains pending, the internet has done what it does best: dig, decode, and disseminate leaks.

Leakers like Kaphotics and ElChicoEevee are among the first to release information on new forms and creatures, feeding the insatiable appetite of the franchise’s global fanbase. Notably, Centro Leaks, a reliable source of Pokémon leaks, has dropped detailed breadcrumbs pointing towards some of the most fascinating aspects of the DLC, especially concerning the new Pokémon forms.

Bloodmoon Ursaluna has caught everyone’s attention. This new Ursaluna form – the final evolution in the Teddiursa line introduced in Gen 8 – seems to be diving into intriguing territories. In the realm of Pokémon Scarlet, Ursaluna is said to have crossed the seas to land in an entirely new region, gaining unique abilities and a new appearance. The Pokémon Violet version elaborates on its possible Ground/Steel typing, pointing out that this form of Ursaluna can see in the dark with its left eye and uses mud as hard as iron for defense. Fans are already knitting theories about how this new form might be accessible – maybe evolving Ursaring during a Lunar Eclipse?

While Bloodmoon Ursaluna is gaining the lion’s share of attention (or is the bear’s share?), it isn’t the only intriguing new addition. There’s also Sinistcha, a trickster Pokémon that masquerades as tea to drain the life-force of those foolish enough to drink it. However, it seems that the Pokémon isn’t particularly successful in its ruse, maybe because Pokémon trainers are getting wiser or perhaps they’ve been forewarned by the leaks. This newcomer is believed to be part of the same evolutionary line as Poltchageist, which adds another layer to its quirky characteristics.

Ogerpon is another name that has resurfaced, but this time with more context. Leaks suggest that it will have three different forms, each with unique attributes – ranging from stellar defense to intense aggression. These multiple forms add an additional layer of complexity and strategy to the gameplay, making Ogerpon a Pokémon to definitely look out for.

It looks like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have recovered nicely after a botched launch.

Beyond these newcomers and new forms, The Teal Mask DLC appears to focus heavily on the return of older Pokémon species, particularly those absent from the original SV game. Leaked Pokédex data suggests that the DLC will introduce players to the Kitakami area, filled with returning species from regions like Alola, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. This is great news for players nostalgic for creatures from Pokémon Sun and Moon, as well as other titles in the franchise.

Also intriguing is the presence of Alolan forms, such as Ninetales and Golem, and some Hisuian Pokémon. While Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup from the Sinnoh region might not be wild-encounterable yet, they appear in the data as HOME transferable, hinting at their potential availability in future Tera Raid events or perhaps in the second part of the DLC, The Indigo Disk.

In an ecosystem as ever-changing as Pokémon, leaks often function as double-edged swords, spurring excitement while threatening to dilute the joy of official announcements. Whether you’re a purist waiting for The Pokémon Company to stamp its approval or an enthusiast who lives for leaks, there’s no denying that the upcoming Teal Mask DLC is shaping up to be a rich addition to the Pokémon universe. And given the game’s global reach – manifested in its crossover into Pokémon Go’s Paldean Adventure event – it’s safe to say the world is ready to explore these new realms, regardless of how the details first came to light.

If it’s true that the next Nintendo Switch is backwards compatible, we’d love to see how Pokémon Scarlet and Violet plays on it.

Speaking of Pokemon, a new live-action drama has been confirmed. Finally, Detective Pikachu Returns is scheduled for October 3
