PlayStation Productions has had a lot of success in converting Sony’s most popular video game IPs into movies and TV shows. And it looks like the company has more in store for longtime fans.

Fans have spotted hints in PlayStation Productions’ new trailer that suggests that it is working on adapting the popular action-adventure game MediEvil as a movie or TV show. The official PlayStation website has a section dedicated to the ongoing projects of PlayStation Productions. In the section, fans can see a short video introducing the production company and showcasing some of its past and present projects.

The short teaser shows a blue light scanning statues of popular Sony characters including Kratos from God of War, Aloy from Horizon, Joel and Ellie from The Last of Us, and Nathan Drake from Uncharted. Most of these characters have been part of PlayStation Productions projects while others have been confirmed to be in development.

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted a pair of legs briefly shown in the trailer and quickly identified them as belonging to Sir Daniel Fortesque. Twitter user Radec first reported the sighting and concluded that PlayStation Productions may be working on a MediEvil project.

Sir Daniel Fortesque is the protagonist of the MediEvil series games. The first game in the series was released in 1998 on the PlayStation 1 while the most recent installment of the franchise came out in 2019. Sir Daniel Fortesque appeared in the 2012 crossover fighting game PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale developed by SuperBot Entertainment as well. Interestingly, both Kratos and Nathan Drake also appeared in the same fighting game, which bodes well for the MediEvil adaptation.

The inclusion of Sir Daniel Fortesque in the teaser video isn’t conclusive proof that we’ll get a movie or TV adaptation for MediEvil anytime soon. However, all signs point toward a movie or TV project as all characters prominently featured in the teaser have had big screen or small screen adaptations. We assume that an animated TV show will be the most likely scenario but a film adaptation isn’t outside the realm of possibility.

Aside from Sir Daniel Fortesque, Days Gone’s Deacon St. John is also in the video. However, unlike the MediEvil lead, he is a bit harder to spot. The character model can be seen tucked away in a corner during one of the final shots that features a number of characters.

The movie adaptation for the post-apocalyptic horror survival game from Bend Studios has been rumored to be in the works since last August. Deadline reported that the film adaptation will be produced in collaboration with Vendetta Productions with Outlander’s Sam Heughan being eyed for the role of Deacon St. John. Oscar-nominated writer Sheldon Turner has also reportedly been tasked with penning the screenplay for the movie adaptation.

It will likely be a while before we hear official word on the upcoming video game adaptations as the Writers’ and Actors’ strikes are still in effect. Insiders say that studios plan on returning to the negotiating table by October.
