Sony makes PlayStation Plus game catalog additions for September official

The PlayStation Plus Premium tier offers a bonus for classic game enthusiasts. It adds four more titles to its library, the three of which are from the Star Ocean series - Star Ocean: First Departure R, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, and Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Dragon's Crown rounds up the quartet. It's worth noting, however, that Sony recently increased the prices for all PlayStation Plus tiers.

As of September 6, those considering the PlayStation Plus Premium will find themselves paying an additional $40 every year. Naturally, this move has been met with much criticism.

This extensive list of games wasn't completely unexpected. Prior to the official announcement, a leak had already hinted at the probable lineup for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers, and the reveal closely mirrored these predictions. A chunk of the leaked titles, are notable present.

But, while the latest additions to the PS Plus' more expensive tiers are high-quality, some can't wonder if Sony is turning a blind eye to the still-ongoing backlash.

A more expensive PS Plus implies that Sony will double down on adding more high-quality games to the platform. This hasn't been the case in recent months. For Sony to announce a price hike, a lackluster PS Plus Essential lineup and what can only be described as a good-but-not-great set of additions to PS Plus Extra and Premium all in the same month isn't a good sign for the rest of the holiday season.

If nothing else, Sony is at least trying to foster excitement for the upcoming remake, STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R.

Unfortunately, this bitter feeling is mad worse with the departure of Deathloop, which leaves the service on September 19, among other things. The title's exit now positions Xbox Game Pass as the sole subscription platform offering the game.
