To date, Pawn Takes Pawn has been an incredibly exciting interactive Black Ops Cold War Alternate Reality Game (ARG). Throughout this ARG, players have learned about topics such as general world history, how ciphers function, and how Cold War era communications worked without the technologies that we have today.

These easter egg hunts encouraged the Call of Duty community to think and apply their knowledge of physics, chemistry, and science, using those skills to solve various puzzles that incorporate the upcoming Black Ops Cold War game.

Pawn Takes Pawn is probably Call of Duty's most ambitious ARG, as the publishers have managed to incorporate Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, and even COD Mobile together. While COD Mobile might not tie into the storyline, it certainly gave mobile players something to look forward to, and a reward of course.

The Pawn Takes Pawn easter egg started back in early August when several Call of Duty content creators were sent packages, through the regular mail, with projectors and some slides. These slides lead them to the Bunkers in Warzone.

The Bunkers contained clues and cipher keys that were used to solve puzzles. Then, after an almost 2 week long easter egg hunt, which was just a first step, we finally got a world reveal trailer for Black Ops Cold War on August 26, 2020. It was delivered via an in-game event in Warzone.
