Palworld Elemental Affinities, Strengths & Weaknesses

Each Pal in Palworld has an elemental affinity and elements that are strong or weak against it. You can use this to your advantage when fighting stronger bosses or Pals and make your fights against them easier.

Elemental attacks with your Pal deal more damage to other characters with elements they are strong against and less damage against characters with elements that they are weak against. There are nine different elements in Palworld and each is strong and weak against a certain other element.

These elemental affinities and their strengths or weaknesses are quite easy to remember as they are simple and structured in a logical manner. For example, the Grass element is weak against the Fire element, and the Fire element is weak against the Water element, just like in real life.

The elemental strengths and weaknesses mechanics in Palworld are quite similar to those in Pokemon, however, there are some key differences. In Pokemon, and for the majority of the elements in Palworld, each element has one other element it is strong against and one it is weak against. But there are some elements in Palworld that go against that rule. For instance, the Neutral element is not strong against any other element, but it has a weakness against the Dark element type.

Another notable difference between elements in Pokemon and Palworld is that in Palworld, the Fire element is strong against not only the Grass type but also the Ice type. Fire only has one weakness, which is the Water element, as you can see in the image above.

Some Pals also have dual elemental affinity that you can use to your advantage and potentially create a full party of every elemental type that is able to to tackle any hostile Pal in Palworld. For example, Chillet is one of the strongest Pals with the Ice and Dragon affinity. This means that Chillet is strong against the Dragon and Dark elements and weak against Fire and Ice. So, while Chillet is strong against two elements, the game balances that out by also making it weak against two elements.
