Mauga, a hulking Samoan brawler that definitely wasn't voiced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, arrives as Overwatch 2's 39th hero and stands out as the first from Samoa. His conception dates back to a 2019 Overwatch short story, where he was revealed as an ally of Baptiste. But, while his history with Baptiste might have made him a familiar face, Mauga was just as explosive in his debut trailer. His distinctive artillery and abilities were in full display at BlizzCon 2023, grabbing the spotlight.
Dual-wielding hefty chainguns, charmingly named Gunny and Cha Cha, Mauga is designed to disrupt the battlefield. On the other hand, the Incendiary Chaingun, Gunny, ignites enemies upon sufficient damage. Meanwhile, Cha Cha, which is the Volatile Chaingun, is tailored for increased critical damage on burning enemies. His Overrun ability sees him charge unstoppably through the battlefield, displacing foes with brute force.
