As Overwatch 2 enters beta on April 26, we're starting to find out more about Blizzard's plans for the highly anticipated sequel, and it appears that cheating is at the top of the studio's priorities.

An official job listing hints that Blizzard is working on new anti-cheat features for Overwatch 2.

Cheating is a major problem in Overwatch and has been for a long time. Despite Blizzard's efforts, hackers are still finding ways to mess up the ranked ladder and make life miserable for everyone else. As the follow-up is expected to attract malicious technologically-inclined individuals (and people willing to pay such people to get a leg up over the competition), it's nice to know that Blizzard isn't resting on its laurels.

As per the job listing, Blizzard is hiring for a "Senior Software Engineer, Gameplay (Anti-Cheat)" who has "proven experience in multiplayer game systems and game security," adding that the individual "should be excited at the idea of working deep in the game architecture to create fast, extensible solutions to anti-cheat security." The said candidate can expect to help "design and develop gameplay features across client and server to mitigate cheating and abuse."
