Nvidia, as well as others, have spoken out against the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority and its decision to block the merger between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.
According to Nvidia’s GeForce Now account, cloud gaming providers such as itself “stand to gain an even deeper catalog of games” because of the deal and it believes the purchase is a “benefit to cloud gaming” as it hopes for a positive development.
Nvidia GeForce Now, the cloud gaming arm of world-leading graphics card manufacturer, Nvidia, is a service that allows a subscriber to stream games to their machines without the requisite hardware. Through the service, members can connect to and stream games that they own on their Steam, Ubisoft, EA, and Epic Games accounts. It doesn’t support every game, but more are added every Thursday, so the partnership with Microsoft definitely helps.
The longer it takes for Microsoft and Xbox to assume ownership of Activision Blizzard, the more GeForce Now subscribers are going to have to wait for games like Call of Duty and Diablo, among others, to become available to them.
In addition to Nvidia, Boosteroid has also spoken in support of Microsoft, saying its stance is “in line” with Microsoft.
Microsoft and Activision Blizzard are currently preparing to appeal to the UK’s CMA, but recent developments don’t make it appear like a resolution in their favor is coming anytime soon.
Outside of the United Kingdom, the European Commission will announce its decision by May 22 while the FTC hearing is scheduled for August.
