No Way Home is the first pandemic-era Hollywood film to make $1 billion

Fast forward to the Christmas weekend and No Way Home brought in yet another $200 million to bring its global total to $1 billion.

Previously, No Time to Die was the biggest Hollywood film of the pandemic era. However, Tom Holland's latest MCU outing proved too much for Daniel Craig's James Bond swansong to handle. Coincidentally, Holland previously expressed interest in playing the iconic spy agent.

All in all, No Way Home has brought in $467.3 million at the domestic box office and $587.1 million at the global box office. This impressive number is enough to give No Way Home the second-highest gross of any December film of all time. In addition, No Way Home just became the 49th film to cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office as it continues to climb up the rankings and threaten to become even bigger than it already is.

On top of its financial success, critics and audiences alike can't get enough of No Way Home. Many are now considering No Way Home as the best live-action Spider-Man film of all time, which is no small praise. No Way Home is currently sitting on a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and a 98% audience score. Perhaps, more importantly, No Way Home might have just helped bring back former Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield, back into the film as there have been talks about The Amazing Spider-Man actor coming back to do a third film featuring him in the lead.

As for the MCU, No Way Home perfectly set things up for the next big thing. After featuring the first official trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as its second post-credits scene, Marvel eventually decided to drop the trailer themselves. The next MCU film will feature Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr. Stephen Strange as he asks for help from Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch to deal with the aftermath of his botched multiversal spell.
