Vin Diesel might be Fast and Furious's patriarch and lead character, Dominic Toretto, to most of the world, but for a select number of fans, he is Richard B. Riddick.

Diesel has played the role of Riddick in three movies so far: 2000's Pitch Black, 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick, and 2013's Riddick. Neither of the three films might have been responsible for turning Diesel into a household name, but they've still earned him a spot in the hearts of sci-fi fans, which is notoriously hard to do.

As a bonus, the Riddick films is one of the few franchises to have a good video game adaptation. 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Buther Bay and 2009's The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena are both largely considered commercial, as well as critical successes.

Having said that, fans have been asking for Diesel to have another go at the prison-breaking and bright-eyed Riddick. Unfortunately, details about the long-rumored sequel have been scarce - until now.
