Bandai Namco just shared new gameplay details about Elden Ring

Mordecai was one of the first to notice the changes. He detailed all of it on his Twitter account.

If you head on over to the official Elden Ring website page right now, you can see that Bandai Namco has revealed more information about what to expect from Elden Ring, including its lore, combat system, as well as environments.

One of the biggest reveals from the updated web page shows that players can use "the environment, the weather, and the time of day" in combat, with "dozens of skills" available. If we were to hazard a guess, this looks a lot like the combat system that FromSoftware uses in one of its other titles, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

More importantly, this might have something to do with the earlier comments from Hidetaka Miyazaki. The game's director talked about how there will be multiple ways to approach situations in Elden Ring. He added that this will help make it easier to manage the difficulty of Elden Ring compared to other FromSoftware games.

Other important details revealed by the updated page refer to the game's narrative. Apparently, the Elden Ring is "the source of the Erdtree". When the Elden Ring was shattered, the demigod offspring of Queen Marika the Eternal started laying claim to the broken shards. The game then sees the players returning to "claim the Elden Lordship promised to them by the legend".

The page also notes that Elden Ring will have a mix of hostile and friendly non-playable characters. The NPCs are specifically described as "mad or hostile" while others "may have answers for you, if you help them."

We can also confirm that Elden Ring will have magic, or at least, its in-game equivalent. The use of "arcane spells" in Elden Ring could be similar to the magic system that FromSoftware uses in Dark Souls, among others.

Lastly, Elden Ring will open up on "bogs, marshes, grassy (and) bushy areas", but, from the trailers, we know that the game will have more to offer as well. This suggests that Elden Ring will have a wide and expansive world for players to explore and venture in.
