The rumor mill has been churning once again, and this time around, it's NetherRealm Studios who are at the center of it all.

Netherrealm Marvel Fighting Game Rumored To Be In The Works

Apparently, some people believe that the developers of the Mortal Kombat and Injustice fighting game series are working on a Marvel fighting game next, with an official announcement coming soon. Is the NetherRealm Marvel Fighting Game Confirmed? Even though it's unconfirmed, their history with the Mortal Kombat and Injustice games makes NetherRealm Studios well-equipped handle a Marvel fighting game.

NetherRealm is one of the most predictable developers in the video game industry. At least, as far as their release schedules go. The Chicago-based video game developers have alternated their video game releases every year starting in 2011 with Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, and Batman: Arkham City Lockdown.

With NetherRealm's most recent title being 2019's Mortal Kombat 11, it stands to reason that NetherRealm is gearing up to release their next big game in 2021.

While fans have reason to believe that NetherRealm is going to release Injustice 3 next (it's been hinted before), some believe that NetherRealm's next game will actually be a Marvel fighting game. Of course, this should be impossible. After all, Warner Bros. owns both DC Comics and NetherRealm. You'd think that they wouldn't let one of their more prominent studios work for the other team. Yet, as per the leaker, Daniel Richtman, he claims the NetherRealm Marvel fighting game is already in production.

Of course, outside of Richtman, there have been little talks about the rumored NetherRealm Marvel fighting game. But, if it's any consolation, NetherRealm Studios' Creative Director, Ed Boon, did say yes back in 2019 when asked if Marvel had already asked them about making a fighting game. If this was a subtle hint, then a 2021 release date makes a lot of sense.
