Netflix's Money Heist was a global phenomenon with fans across the globe. One of Netflix's biggest television series, three of Money Heist's five seasons rank in the platform's Top 10 shows of all time. Given its success, Netflix decided to expand the series into a franchise, which includes a South Korean remake that debuted last June, as well as a spinoff titled Berlin based on the show's character of the same name.

Now, over a year after Netflix announced the spinoff, it has revealed the highly anticipated show will arrive this December via a video posted to its official YouTube channel. The announcement video, which is just under a minute long, shows the lead character studying an incredibly detailed model of a bank with a vault filled with gemstones. However, only one of the stones, a red ruby, catches his attention as he removes it from the pile and takes a few moments to admire it. He then stoops to study a much smaller model of an attractive woman whose identity is unknown.

At the moment, there is little to no information on the forthcoming show. However, it is confirmed that Pedro Alonso will reprise his role as Andres de Fonollosa, nicknamed Berlin, from Money Heist and that it will be a prequel show. The actor, while attending the 2022 Netflix Tudum event with the show's creator Alex Pina, revealed that the spinoff will "be a trip throughout the golden years of the character [Berlin]. When he was stealing all over Europe, madly in love."
