Although still iconic in the eyes of many and undoubtedly influential, the latter installments/remakes were widely panned by critics and audiences alike. News of the upcoming Texas Chain Saw Massacre game appeared at The Game Awards 2021 with a brief teaser confirming the game. Unfortunately, no gameplay footage nor other details were shown. All that the teaser contained a quaint little town and a glimpse at Leatherface before he, presumably, goes on a murderous rampage and the words "Texas Chain Saw Massacre: a multiplayer horror game based on true events" flash across the screen.
As much uncertainty as there is around the Texas Chain Saw Massacre game, one thing that's for sure is it's taking inspiration from the source material, which marketed itself as something based on true events even though it was mostly fictional albeit slightly inspired by the infamous serial killer, Ed Gein.
