Grand Theft Auto: III, Vice City, and San Andreas are all classic games that will forever be remembered for their impact on the gaming industry. Rockstar's attempt to remaster the said PS2-era titles will also make their mark as well, but not for the same reason as the originals. After several months of speculation, leaks, and rumors, Rockstar finally confirmed and then released Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, only to botch its launch by giving audiences an incomplete product.
Thankfully, Rockstar's titles also have some of the most supportive modding communities. In place of Rockstar's lapses, modders have stepped up to try and make the GTA Trilogy playable, especially on the PC.
Can Rockstar still redeem the GTA Trilogy?
Earlier this year, Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two, issued takedowns to various GTA mod creators and sued the creators of Nintendo Switch ports of classic GTA games. Naturally, this caused some backlash within the modding community. This is why it's so ironic that the very same community is now responsible for salvaging GTA Trilogy after a growing amount of users demanded refunds due to the game's unplayable state.
