The outspoken and brash young star of the AEW, MJF, successfully defended his World Championship belt during the Four Pillars Title Match at the recently concluded Double or Nothing PPV. But, as it turns out, the four-time AEW Dynamite Diamond Ring winner didn’t walk away from the match without a scratch.
Apparently, MJF was injured when his opponent, Darby Allin, landed on his arm during a top-rope powerbomb maneuver in the middle of the match.
The 27-year-old AEW superstar appeared at the post-match press conference with a heavily taped left arm and forearm that indicates he had suffered an injury.
MJF didn’t shy away from criticizing wrestling fans during his address, claiming that they lacked genuine concern for the wrestlers’ wellbeing, referring to his “f***ed” forearm to illustrate the point.
The AEW has yet to address the severity of MJF’s injury, so the extent of how much MJF is hurt remains unclear. We’ll have to wait for further updates to determine how this will impact his matches going forward.
Aside from revealing his most recent injury, MJF used the post-match press conference to make headlines once again, calling out everyone from the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) to the WWE, specifically, both the WWE CEO, Nick Khan, and WWE Chief Content Officer, Triple H, by name.
As the AEW’s top-billing star, MJF gets leeway about his promos and he’s certainly not above controversial remarks. Most recently, MJF said that he isn’t excited to defend his title belt in London at the AEW All In PPV. This implies that MJF is confident that he’ll be capable of defending his title belt multiple times between then and now. Finally, MJF even went as far as to call out Goldberg for his lack of mic skills earlier this year, fueling rumors that the WWE Hall of Famer could join the AEW to feud with its incumbent star.
