Master Chief to join Rainbow Six Siege in upcoming Halo crossover

We're curious if an inverse crossover is also coming with Rainbow Six Siege operators coming to Halo Infinite.

Master Chief's latest outing, Halo Infinite, hasn't had the best time, especially over the past year.

Few crossovers have the potential to make as much noise as the rumored addition of Master Chief, the protagonist from Xbox’s flagship shooter franchise, Halo, to Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft’s premiere co-op shooter.

The teeming world of Siege, having existed for nearly a decade, is no stranger to surprising collaborations. With famed additions ranging from WWE icons, the magnetic charm of Nier’s 2B, the rogue adventures of Assassin’s Creed, and the intrigue of Yakuza (Like a Dragon), Ubisoft has meticulously woven narratives from varied realms. But the arrival of Halo’s hero signifies a game-changing moment, promising not just a fresh look, but a convergence of fandoms.

The source of the rumor is Klobrille on Twitter, displaying an awe-inspiring Master Chief skin in Rainbow Six Siege in a since-deleted footage. This fresh appearance would be an Elite Skin for the Operator, Sledge, aligning with the Master Chief’s intrinsic nature. Embodying the essence of Halo Infinite, this skin seems primed to make a powerful statement. However, the larger questions remain unanswered. Will this skin transcend platforms, becoming universally accessible? Or will it remain an exclusive privilege for Xbox and PC gamers?

Ubisoft, known for their strategic reveal of information, has remained silent, neither confirming nor denying the leak. With their recent announcement of the upcoming Year 8 Season 3 of Siege, Heavy Mettle, dropping at the end of August, the community is speculating at the potential of a surprise drop.

While the update promises the entry of Ram, the game’s newest Operator, and changes to the Ranked and Quick Match modes, the possibility of Master Chief’s entrance remains shrouded in mystery.

Rainbow Six Siege’s trajectory mirrors the evolution of pop culture and gaming. Originating as a grave and intense tactical FPS in 2015, its evolution in recent years has been colored with a cocktail of quirky and unexpected characters, reminiscent of the vibrant Fortnite landscape. Pickle Rick’s eccentricity, The Undertaker’s intense aura, or even the allure of Lara Croft from Tomb Raider – each addition has spiced up the gaming experience, a dance of both nostalgia and novelty.

Rainbow Six Siege is one of the longest-running live-service shooters on the market.

Another facet of this crossover that fans eagerly anticipate is the cosmetics accompanying the Master Chief skin. The leaked clip, which looks convincingly legitimate, showcases the majestic Master Chief in all his glory, themed weapon skins and other cosmetics potentially included. However, one must tread this landscape of anticipation with a pinch of caution. The gaming world thrives on speculation, and not every whispered secret sees the light of day.

With Klobrille’s solid track record and the Master Chief video making waves, there’s substantial weight to the claim, but the exact timeline of this exciting crossover remains hazy.

From fighting against the Covenant and Flood in the Halo series to potentially breaching walls and laying siege with the Rainbow Six Siege operators, Master Chief’s journey is yet another sign of the increasingly fluid boundaries of the gaming multiverse.

It remains unclear if and when a sequel to Rainbow Six Siege will be released.

In the end, whether or not Master Chief pays Rainbow Six Siege a visit or not, fans have plenty to look forward to with the arrival of Operation Heavy Mettle.
